Foreign Office Issues Urgent Travel Warning for 16 Countries After Iran Attack

The Foreign Office has issued a new travel warning for 16 countries following Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel. Travellers to nations including Oman, Morocco, Qatar, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Yemen, Iraq, Algeria, and Bahrain are urged to take extra care.

The warning comes after Iran launched 300 drones and missiles against Israel on 13 April 2024, most of which were intercepted. The Foreign Office stated: 'On 13 April 2024 Iran carried out military action against Israel. Monitor this travel advice and other media as the situation is changing fast.'

In a separate alert, the Foreign Office also warned of a heightened risk of terrorist attacks across 18 countries in the southern Mediterranean and Middle East. Officials said there is a 'high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals', urging travellers to remain vigilant.
