Disney Wish Cruise Ship to Make UK Debut in Southampton for 2027 Summer Sailings
Disney Cruise Line is set to bring one of its largest and newest vessels, the Disney Wish, to the United Kingdom for the very first time. This iconic ship, featuring a red and black funnel adorned with Mickey Mouse ears, will brighten up the port of Southampton during the summer cruise season in 2027.
Ship Specifications and Itinerary Details
Launched in 2022 as the inaugural vessel in Disney's Wish class, which includes sister ships like Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, the Disney Wish is relatively new compared to other cruise liners that frequently operate from UK ports. With a gross tonnage of 144,000 and a passenger capacity of 4,000, it will rank among the most substantial and modern ships to depart from Southampton.
The itineraries will consist of a mix of three to seven-night northern Europe cruises, with prices starting from £2,802 for a family of two adults and two children sharing an interior cabin. Onboard, guests can look forward to a plethora of activities, including immersive dining experiences, live stage shows, and character meet-and-greets.
Onboard Amenities and Themed Experiences
Upon boarding, passengers are greeted in the Grand Hall by a bronze Cinderella statue and a ballgown-shaped chandelier, with a magical light show known as the "Special Kiss Goodnight" occurring at 10pm or midnight. The ship's decor is richly themed, with art from classics like Alice in Wonderland and Moana, and hidden Easter eggs such as Cinderella's carriage in lighting fixtures.
The 1,254 cabins feature murals from films including Frozen and The Little Mermaid, with family rooms offering sofa beds that convert into bunks and connecting staterooms for larger groups. A unique split-bathroom design enhances convenience for families.
Dining and Entertainment Highlights
Disney Wish offers rotational dining with three included experiences: a Frozen-themed dinner in Arendelle, the upscale 1923 restaurant inspired by California, and the Worlds of Marvel adventure with superhero appearances. The Marceline Marketplace buffet serves Mickey waffles and special churros, adding to the culinary delight.
Entertainment rivals West End productions, with exclusive live shows of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin in the 1,340-seater Walt Disney Theatre, plus a unique musical, "Disney Seas the Adventure." Character meet-and-greets allow guests to interact with favourites like Minnie Mouse and Belle without long queues.
Family and Adult-Only Areas
For family fun, seven pools are spread across decks, including the quiet Chip 'n' Dale's pool and the AquaMouse water coaster. The Oceaneer Club provides immersive themed areas for children aged 3-10, while tweens and teens have dedicated lounges.
Adults can retreat to the Quiet Cove pool deck, Cove Cafe, or the Palo Steakhouse for brunch, and enjoy the Senses Spa with heated beds and hot tubs. The cruise culminates in pirate night with fireworks at sea, a signature Disney experience.
This debut marks a significant expansion for Disney Cruise Line in the UK, following the Disney Dream's summer sailings, and promises a magical voyage for British Disney enthusiasts starting in 2027.
