A significant number of popular holiday parks across England and Scotland are facing an uncertain future after their parent company confirmed that several subsidiaries have entered administration.
Which Holiday Parks Are Affected?
Cove UK, renowned for operating family-friendly holiday destinations in scenic locations, has seen multiple companies within its larger group collapse into administration. While the Cove brand itself continues to trade, the financial troubles have impacted numerous subsidiary companies that manage specific parks.
The affected locations include Gwel an Mor Resort in Cornwall and Solway Holiday Park in Cumbria. Several Scottish parks have also been caught up in the administration process, including Drimsynie Holiday Village, Hunters Quay Holiday Village, and Loch Eck Caravan Park.
Despite the financial restructuring, all parks currently remain open and operational according to statements from the appointed administrators.
Administrators Move to Ensure Stability
Adam Paxton, Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP, who has been appointed as joint administrator, provided reassurance to holidaymakers and property owners. "As administrators, our priority is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain stability across the parks," Paxton told the Daily Mail.
He emphasised that day-to-day operations should continue with minimal disruption, adding: "Owners, residents and holidaymakers should not be impacted, and can contact the site managers with any questions they may have."
The formal administration process began on November 17, when Alvarez & Marsal Europe were appointed as joint administrators for several companies including Cove Communities Venture 2 Gwel an Mor OpCo Ltd, Cove Communities Venture 2 Solway OpCo Ltd, and Cove Communities Venture 2 Springwood OpCo Ltd.
Wider Group Remains Operational
A spokesperson for Cove UK moved to calm concerns, noting that Seal Bay, their largest resort, remains unaffected by the administration process. "We understand that public filings can sometimes prompt speculation and media interest," the spokesperson stated.
"However, we want to reassure all stakeholders that Seal Bay is stable and trading normally. Our focus remains on serving our customers and executing our long-term strategy."
The company confirmed that while administrators have been appointed to Cove Communities Holiday Park HoldCo Limited and its subsidiaries, other companies within the wider Cove Communities group continue to operate as normal.
The news comes amid broader concerns about the UK's tourism industry, particularly following the recent closure of two popular Cornish attractions. Dairyland Farm Park near Newquay shut its doors permanently in November 2024 after nearly five decades of operation, citing financial struggles exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising operating costs.
