A couple hoping for a relaxing holiday found themselves in an unexpected situation after accidentally booking an entire wedding venue instead of a simple holiday rental.
The baffled holidaymakers had intended to book a quaint cottage for a peaceful retreat but ended up with keys to a sprawling venue complete with grand halls, a dance floor, and even a bridal suite.
How Did It Happen?
The mix-up occurred when the couple, browsing online for accommodation, stumbled upon what they thought was a charming countryside property. Unbeknownst to them, the listing was for a full-scale wedding venue, often hired out for large events.
"We thought it was just a big house with a nice garden," one of the holidaymakers admitted. "When we arrived, we were stunned to find a fully equipped wedding venue with seating for hundreds."
The Unexpected Perks
Despite the initial shock, the couple decided to make the most of their accidental luxury booking. They enjoyed exploring the grand halls, hosting imaginary receptions, and even staging a playful mock wedding ceremony for fun.
"It was surreal but hilarious," they shared. "We had the whole place to ourselves—no bridezilla, no stressed-out guests, just us and this enormous venue."
A Warning for Fellow Travellers
The couple now advises other holidaymakers to double-check property descriptions before booking. "Always read the fine print," they laughed. "Otherwise, you might end up renting a castle when you only wanted a cottage."
While their holiday didn’t go as planned, it certainly became a story they’ll never forget—and a lesson in the importance of careful booking.
