Horrifying footage has emerged showing the moment a children's fairground ride spectacularly collapsed at a Spanish festival, leaving young riders suspended precariously 20 feet in the air.
The incident occurred during the San José Obrero festivities in the town of Roquetas de Mar, Almería, where what should have been a fun-filled family day out turned into a scene of panic and terror.
Mid-Air Catastrophe
Shocking video circulating on social media captures the exact moment the playground attraction, known as 'Mundo de los Colores' (World of Colours), begins to disintegrate while operating at full height.
Witnesses described hearing "loud cracking noises" before sections of the ride broke away, leaving several children dangling helplessly from their seats as the structure partially gave way beneath them.
Emergency Response
Emergency services including police, fire crews and medical teams rushed to the scene following multiple distress calls from terrified parents and festival-goers.
Firefighters worked urgently to stabilise the damaged structure and safely evacuate all children from the compromised ride. Initial reports indicate that while several youngsters suffered from shock and minor injuries, miraculously there were no serious casualties.
Safety Investigation Launched
Local authorities have confirmed that an immediate investigation has been launched into the cause of the collapse. The ride had reportedly passed recent safety inspections, raising serious questions about maintenance standards and regulatory oversight.
"We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness," stated a spokesperson for Roquetas de Mar council. "The safety of our citizens, especially children, is our primary concern and we will determine exactly what went wrong."
Parental Outrage
Angry parents have expressed their fury at the ride operators and event organisers, with many questioning how such a catastrophic failure could occur at a family-oriented event.
"We put our trust in these attractions being safe for our children," one distressed mother told local media. "To see it collapse before our eyes was every parent's worst nightmare."
The incident has sparked wider concerns about fairground ride safety standards across Spain and Europe, with calls for immediate reviews of all similar attractions.
