Cassia, the Italian restaurant that closed at the Silverlink in March, is set to reopen in a new home in Gosforth, taking over the premises previously occupied by Fortuna on the High Street.
Closure and Move
The team at Cassia announced their departure from the Silverlink in early 2026, posting on Facebook: "We are so sad to announce that unfortunately after an amazing 4 years here at Cassia our doors will be closing at the end of March. We would like to say thankyou to our team for their passion and dedication."
They added: "To all of our customers who have joined us over the years Thank you for your support, loyalty and sharing your moments with us bringing life into the restaurant. Cassia would not have been possible without yous all."
New Location in Gosforth
The original Silverlink building has been transformed and reopened this week as the third Wagamama on Tyneside, following the success of restaurants at Old Eldon Square in Newcastle city centre and at the Metrocentre.
Meanwhile, the Cassia team has taken over the building in Gosforth that was, until a few months ago, the home of Fortuna. While its next door neighbour Adriano's Deli is still open, Fortuna ceased trading earlier in the year, and signs have now gone up outside to signal the premises' new era as Cassia's new home.
Progress Update
After staying quiet on the restaurant's plans, the Cassia team issued a progress update to regulars on social media on Tuesday. It read: "We just wanted to apologise for the wait and for it taking a little longer than expected for the restaurant here in gosforth to open. We’re working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready, and thankfully it shouldn’t be too much longer now!"
Staff signed off: "Thank you so much for your patience, support and understanding — we can’t wait to finally welcome you through the doors!" One follower responded: "roll on Sunday dinners again. Can't wait."
