British Tourist Dies in Lanzarote Hotel Balcony Fall

A British tourist has died after falling 20 feet from a hotel balcony in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in the resort town of Costa Teguise.

The 56-year-old man died instantly, while a 54-year-old British man was seriously injured and remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Doctor José Molina Orosa hospital. Local media reported that the balcony railing collapsed, causing the fall.

Spanish civil guard has launched an investigation into the maintenance of the railing and the hotel's security. It is not yet known if the two men were friends or relatives. The hotel's name has not been disclosed.

Emergency services responded to reports of the fatal fall at around 1:30 am. The 56-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
