A violent brawl involving snowboarders and a skier erupted on the slopes of a prestigious French Alps resort, with shocking footage capturing the chaotic ten-minute confrontation.
Chaos Captured on Camera
The incident unfolded in Val Thorens after a collision on the piste. Renan Vitor, a 32-year-old public administrator from Madrid, recorded the entire event using his Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The footage shows the initial crash quickly escalating into a heated argument.
In the video, the skier is seen holding a broken ski pole while engaged in a shouting match with several other individuals. He was visibly held back as he yelled at a man in a yellow ski jacket. The situation then deteriorated rapidly.
The Violent Escalation
The footage cuts to show a snowboarder chasing down the skier and delivering a hard kick. A second person then ran up to the skier and took a huge swing at his face, the force of the blow knocking him to the snowy ground.
Several more people joined the fight, with six men reportedly chasing and repeatedly striking the skier, who desperately tried to dodge their blows. According to eyewitness Renan, the conflict began when the skier ran over a snowboarder, sparking a furious response from the snowboarder's friends.
"At first, I couldn't believe what was happening," Renan said. "I tried to intervene after taking off my skis, but it was too dangerous. Some of them had ski poles and were kicking with their boots."
Security Intervention and Aftermath
The brawl raged for approximately ten minutes before security personnel from a nearby venue finally stepped in to break up the fight. They were subsequently followed by the French Gendarmerie.
Despite the severity and length of the violence, Renan confirmed that no arrests were made following the intervention by authorities. The incident highlights the potential for minor slope accidents to spiral into serious altercations in busy resort environments.
