Alnwick Castle, the North East landmark famous for its role in the Harry Potter films and a Downton Abbey Christmas special, will host a one-day Christmas Market on November 25, 2026. The event promises 'a magical festive experience filled with unique gifts, local crafts, delicious treats and plenty of Christmas cheer!'
A Festive Setting in the Guest Hall
Set within the historic Guest Hall, the market forms part of the castle's Christmas Fair. Shoppers will be able to browse handcrafted gifts from independent makers, find unique presents for friends and family, and enjoy seasonal food and refreshments.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £5, with proceeds going to local children's charity Smile for Life. The market will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm, following a preview evening the day before.
Screen Fame and Local Appeal
Even those who have never visited Alnwick Castle will likely recognise it from the big screen. It provided the setting for iconic scenes in the first Harry Potter film and was later used for one of the Downton Abbey Christmas specials.
The event joins other festive markets in the region, including Newcastle Christmas Market, which begins in four weeks, and Durham's market, which has been praised as an underrated gem in recent years.
