Britain’s only privately owned train, The Chairman’s Train, is now available for exclusive hire from £45,000 per day. Unveiled at London Euston this week, it is the UK’s first fully private heritage train that can be chartered in its entirety, comprising nine carriages. The luxury train’s inaugural season kicks off in July with a five-day journey through Scotland’s West Highlands, offering views of lochs and mountains along with opportunities for off-train exploration and stays.
Onboard Luxury and Design
Each carriage has been meticulously restored, featuring polished brass, soft lamplight, and deep velvet upholstery. Amenities include walk-in showers, evening pianists in the bar car, and a dedicated chef who curates regional menus. Multi-day itineraries also incorporate Flora, the train’s dedicated “bubble car,” allowing access to remote branch lines beyond standard service routes.
Booking and Pricing
For 2026, all departures will start from London Euston, with plans to use other London terminals in future. Owned by British businessman Jeremy Hosking, the train accommodates groups of two to 16 people on tailored journeys across Britain’s railways, hauled by vintage locomotives including steam, electric, and diesel options. Full-day charters start at £45,000, with an additional £25,000 per day for overnight stays. From 2027, guests can commission private charters across the UK.
Bespoke multi-day tours are priced according to chosen locomotive, destination, and duration.
