Samsung has confirmed that its next Unpacked event will take place on Wednesday, July 22, at 2pm BST in London. The Korean technology giant is expected to unveil a range of new devices, with foldable smartphones likely taking centre stage.
Expected Device Launches
While Samsung has not officially confirmed the lineup, industry insiders anticipate the debut of a refreshed Galaxy Z Flip and a new Galaxy Z Fold. These devices are rumoured to feature upgraded processors, improved cameras, enhanced durability, and smarter AI capabilities.
However, the highlight of the event could be a completely new form factor. Samsung has been teasing a device with a "new shape" that unfolds, described in an email to Express.co.uk as "A New Shape Unfolds." Social media posts have shown everyday products appearing shorter and wider, hinting at a foldable that resembles a passport. This design would offer a more tablet-like experience when opened, compared to the current square display of the Galaxy Z Fold, making it better for watching movies, playing games, and multitasking.
Competitive Landscape
Sources suggest that Samsung is accelerating its launch to beat Apple to market. Apple is rumoured to be planning its first foldable iPhone with a similar passport-style shape, potentially unveiling it in September. By launching this design in July, Samsung aims to establish a presence in the market before its rival.
Event Details
Unpacked will be held on July 22 at 2pm BST. Express.co.uk will provide live coverage of the event. Samsung has not disclosed further details about the devices, but more information is expected in the coming days.
