Man Utd's Orozco Breaks Silence as Fans Demand Announcement

Manchester United's new signing Cristian Orozco has broken his silence on his move to Old Trafford, with fans clamoring for the club to officially announce his arrival. The 18-year-old Colombian midfielder's transfer was finalized on his birthday, Monday, after an agreement was reached with Fortaleza CEIF nine months ago.

Orozco's Move and Potential

United secured the teenager because they believe he has first-team potential. The club's midfield issues, partly addressed by the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, could pave the way for Orozco to feature under manager Michael Carrick next season. He has joined the academy initially and is expected to play for the Under-21s this season while he settles in.

Orozco Speaks on His Strengths

Speaking to ESPN Colombia, Orozco said: “I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique. I have those qualities and, with the gift God gave me, I don’t think it will be too difficult. But everything is about adapting. I’m very young and that’s what I’ll need to do.” He also mentioned the importance of learning English, having visited Carrington in December: “I expect to learn a lot of English. When I was there, I realised just how important it is. I want to arrive and learn as quickly as possible. That’s what’s required so I can show my level.”

Fan Excitement on Social Media

Supporters have taken to social media platform X to express their eagerness for the club to announce Orozco's signing. One fan commented: “Can you please just announce Santos, Darlow and Orozco.” Another wrote: “@ManUtd announce Christian Orozco,” while a third asked: “When will Cristian Orozco (18) be OFFICIALLY announced?”

United's Youth Strategy

Orozco's signing is part of a broader strategy by Ineos, which took control of United's football operations, to acquire talented young players with high potential. Similar deals have been made for Sekou Kone from Mali and Diego Leon from Paraguay over the past 18 months. United will provide Orozco with English lessons to help him adapt, and he was given a tour of Carrington and Old Trafford in the winter, including a taste of training with the academy teams.
