Manchester United's board is expected to accelerate the process of appointing a new head coach, with insiders at the club expecting Michael Carrick to be relieved of his duties, according to Sky Sports. The move follows Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which left United 16th in the Premier League table with just two wins from 12 games this season.
Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson condemned United to a third defeat in four matches and extended their winless run to eight games in all competitions. United have picked up seven points from a possible 24 in the top flight and have not won in the league since beating Ipswich Town in August.
Pressure Mounts on Carrick
Speaking after the match, Carrick cut a dejected figure and did not seem sure he would be in the dugout for United's trip to Chelsea next Saturday. Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both called for United to sack Carrick after the club dropped to within one point of the relegation zone.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United's bosses feel a change is needed to improve the club's fortunes, with former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe the leading candidates. The decision on who will replace Carrick is expected to come down to director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada, who will make a recommendation to co-owner Ratcliffe.
Giggs' Attack on Neville
Rhodri Giggs, the brother of Manchester United legend Ryan, has launched an X-rated attack on Gary Neville amid the club's growing crisis. After the defeat to Bournemouth, Rhodri, 49, turned on Neville and United's ownership, accusing the former England defender of failing to hold Sir Jim Ratcliffe accountable.
In a post on X, he wrote: "Gary Neville you’re an absolute w****r. Prime Pep couldn't get a tune out of this lot. Call your mate Jim [Ratcliffe] out who got us into this mess further."
The owners are parasites and don't have a clue.
