Klopp Confirms Germany Manager Talks
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he is in discussions to become the next Germany manager, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann who resigned after Germany's penalty shoot-out loss to Paraguay at the World Cup on Monday. Klopp, currently Red Bull's global head of football, has been working as a pundit for German broadcaster Magenta at the tournament.
“Yes, I can confirm the talks,” Klopp told Magenta. “Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB are looking for a successor. And they're talking to me.” He added that he expects Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff not to stand in his way, despite having 19 months left on his contract.
Real Madrid Keep Tchouameni
Aurelien Tchouameni, a long-term Liverpool target valued at £77m, will remain at Real Madrid this summer. New manager Jose Mourinho has blocked a potential transfer, despite reports last month that Liverpool were confident of signing the 26-year-old midfielder. According to TEAMtalk, Tchouameni will be given the chance to become a guaranteed starter next season, ending interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
