Liverpool are entering a new chapter under manager Andoni Iraola, who is seeking summer reinforcements after the club finished fifth in the Premier League last season. The Merseyside giants are preparing for a pre-season tour of the United States, where they will face Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds. So far, only Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have arrived at Anfield this summer.
Joao Gomes 'Set for Medical' at Aston Villa
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes, a long-term Liverpool target, is on the verge of joining Aston Villa. The 25-year-old Brazilian, who was one of few bright spots for Wolves during their relegation to the Championship, has agreed to move to Villa Park. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X: "João Gomes to Aston Villa, here we go! Verbal agreement in place at €40m fee plus €5m add-ons. Wolves accept £38m package and authorise medical for João Gomes to #AVFC. Gomes left training to travel and complete move."
Liverpool and Manchester United had previously shown interest in Gomes, but Villa have secured his signature after winning the Europa League under Unai Emery.
PSG Realistic Over Bradley Barcola
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly being "realistic" about the situation surrounding Liverpool target Bradley Barcola. According to The Athletic, the French champions would prefer to keep the winger but recognise he has two years left on his contract and is not a guaranteed starter, making a departure possible. Barcola is high on Liverpool's summer shortlist as a backup option to Yan Diomande, who is expected to join PSG. Arsenal have also been linked but are prioritising a move for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers.
Barcola recently played for France in their World Cup semi-final defeat to Spain. With the tournament over, his future could be resolved soon. Earlier reports suggested PSG were seeking around £130 million for the 23-year-old.
