Jens Hjerto-Dahl has made it clear he is prepared to wait for a move to Rangers, even as Tromso continue to reject bids for the highly-rated midfielder. The 22-year-old Norwegian international has emerged as a key target for the Glasgow giants, who have seen a £5.3 million bid turned down, according to reports in Norway.
Midfielder's Preferred Destination
Hjerto-Dahl, who scored in Tromso's 4-0 victory over Valerenga, reiterated his desire to join Rangers over Turkish side Besiktas. "I still prefer Rangers over Besiktas, but I am prepared for the fact that it could take a long time before a move to a new club is finalised," he said. The player's stance comes after Besiktas revived their interest, having seen a January deal collapse at the eleventh hour.
Club's Stance and Speculation
Tromso have rejected all approaches for Hjerto-Dahl, with Norwegian outlet iTromso reporting that the club is holding firm. However, speculation is mounting that a deal could be imminent. TV2 pundit Haakon Frydenberg Thon commented after Hjerto-Dahl's goal: "That is maybe the last thing he does for Tromso." Tromso head coach Jorgen Vik acknowledged the situation, saying, "In every club, players have their price. I'm very happy that they're with us tomorrow, and I definitely plan to have them with us going forward. We'll see."
Rangers' Midfield Reinforcements
Rangers manager Derek McInnes has already bolstered his midfield with the free agent signing of Cammy Devlin from Hearts, while Vanja Dragojevic is expected to arrive from Partizan Belgrade. The addition of Hjerto-Dahl would further strengthen the squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.
