Reform MPs Get 24-Hour Security After Widdecombe Death

Reform UK MPs are being provided with 24-hour security protection as police continue their murder investigation into the death of Ann Widdecombe. The veteran politician, a former Conservative minister and later Reform spokesperson, was found dead at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor at around 11:40 AM on Thursday after sustaining serious injuries.

Security Measures Implemented

According to reports first published by The Mail on Sunday, Reform’s MPs are now receiving round-the-clock security following Widdecombe’s death. The security is being funded by the party itself and was offered out of concern that similar attacks could occur against other members.

Party Leader's Response

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, visited Devon on Saturday to lay a wreath in memory of Widdecombe and spoke to reporters about the case. He stated that the party had reviewed its emails to check for patterns of abuse directed at Widdecombe but had not found any threatening messages.

On Friday, Farage described Widdecombe’s death as “a terrible reflection on modern Britain.” He added: “And I do fear that for anybody in public life, or especially the political space, things have become even more dangerous to them.”

Ongoing Investigation

Police are continuing their murder investigation into Widdecombe’s death. The circumstances surrounding her injuries and the cause of death have not been publicly disclosed in detail, but authorities are treating the case as a homicide.
