Caleb Williams Lands Madden NFL 27 Cover in Iconic Jump-Throw Pose
Caleb Williams Named Madden NFL 27 Cover Athlete

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been named the cover athlete for EA Sports' Madden NFL 27, the company announced on Wednesday. The standard edition cover captures Williams in a striking jump-throw pose, reminiscent of his game-changing fourth-and-8 pass to Rome Odunze during a wild-card playoff comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers on January 10.

Cover Design Details

The standard cover shows Williams with his arm cocked to throw and feet spread, seemingly soaring above a silhouette of the Chicago skyline set against a blue backdrop. The deluxe edition features a tight close-up of Williams with arms crossed over his white game jersey, set against a dark, night-like background with falling snow.

Williams' Reaction

Being featured on the cover was "like my childhood dream was coming true," Williams said in a statement. "I grew up playing Madden and imagining what it would be like to be part of the game."

Williams and the 2025 Bears became known for their late-game heroics last season, staging multiple comeback victories and dramatic rallies that often came up just short, including their season-ending playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Teammates' Reactions

Wide receiver Rome Odunze praised the cover, saying, "He had a spectacular season and the cover was dope, his kind of little (Michael Jordan) tribute. I know the Chicagoans are happy to see that one. It was kind of a throwback. It was pretty cool."

Defensive back Tyrique Stevenson also expressed his approval: "It's tough. I told him he has to sign mine. Definitely proud of him for that. I'm honored to be on a team with someone who is on the Madden cover."

Season Performance

In 17 regular-season games, Williams passed for a franchise-record 3,942 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions in his second season since being drafted first overall out of Southern California.
