A man from Lumbridge has earned nearly £2,000 by reporting derelict houses to a company called YouSpotProperty.com. Mr Sefton, a service engineer, came across the company on Facebook and initially thought it was too good to be true.
Despite his scepticism, he decided to give it a try. In his first month, he reported five properties and received a £20 Amazon voucher. Over several months, he reported more eligible houses and earned hundreds of pounds in vouchers.
His biggest windfall came when he reported a semi-detached terrace house in Irdington. YouSpotProperty purchased the house for £100,000, and Mr Sefton received a 1% incentive of £1,000. The company also donated £500 to a charity of his choice.
Mr Sefton has used his earnings to renovate his house, buying paint, materials for a fireplace, and a wall-mounted TV. His brother has also become a spotter for the company.
YouSpotProperty aims to tackle the issue of empty homes, with over 600,000 vacant properties in England. Co-founder Nick Kalms highlighted that probate issues are a common cause, and urged councils to prioritise bringing empty homes back into use.
