Arsenal are in advanced discussions with the representatives of Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, according to reports. This comes after the Gunners agreed a £34million deal for Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their Premier League title defence.
Arsenal's Priority Signing
Rogers is considered a top target for Mikel Arteta, with sporting director Andrea Berta reportedly making the 23-year-old a priority signing this summer. Fabrizio Romano claims that with the Tzolis deal seemingly wrapped up, Arsenal will now intensify their pursuit of Rogers. Negotiations are said to be at an 'advanced stage' within the player's camp.
Aston Villa's Stance
However, Aston Villa are determined to keep Rogers, especially with Champions League football on the horizon for the 2026/27 season. Reports suggest Villa are holding out for a British-transfer record fee of £130million. When asked about the valuation, Rogers said: "I'm not sure I'm worth all of that! Of course it's nice to hear that from people. But I don't let outside noise dictate me. I'm just going to keep focused, keep being me."
Leandro Trossard Departure
Arsenal have already offloaded Leandro Trossard to Turkish side Besiktas for £17million after add-ons. The 31-year-old scored crucial goals for the Gunners, including the winner against West Ham United. An official club statement confirmed: "We have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard."
Looking Ahead
Arsenal are expected to have several new faces before their Premier League opener against Coventry on August 21. With Tzolis close to joining and Rogers a key target, Arteta's squad is set for significant reinforcement.
