Vinted Seller Discovers Vintage Treasure Trove in Charity Shop Visit

Lucy Pollard, a regular charity shop visitor and Vinted reseller, has described hitting the "vintage jackpot" during a recent trip to a Sue Ryder store. The TikTok content creator, who has amassed over 2,000 followers showcasing her second-hand finds, was left stunned by the quality and quantity of vintage items she discovered.

Strategic Shopping After Jobcentre Visit

Pollard revealed her shopping strategy involves rewarding herself with charity shop visits after trips to the Jobcentre. "Whenever I have to go to the Jobcentre I always reward myself by going to the big Sue Ryder that is around the corner," she explained. "It is a big stand-alone, like retail park size and it's just around the back, so that is my treat when I have to endure going to the Jobcentre."

Her most recent visit proved exceptionally fruitful. "Today I have hit a vintage jackpot," she declared on TikTok. "I wasn't going in looking for vintage, usually there isn't any, and I actually had to leave a lot behind. You should have seen the amount that I had in my hands at one point and I just thought 'no, this is silly'."

Incredible £1 Sale Finds

The charity shop was running a special £1 sale on trousers, skirts, and jeans, which Pollard described as "very fun." She began showcasing her haul with a pair of khaki green vintage trousers complete with matching belt.

"These are a vintage size 14 and they fit a modern eight, so I find that really crazy," she noted. "I can get them on because I'm between an eight and a 10, but they would be too tight for me, like my personal preference, and they're very high-waisted, which I don't really wear any more, but excellent."

Her second featured item was a blue and black checked skirt that she labeled "maybe the second-best thing." Holding up the £1 find, she exclaimed: "I mean - a pound. That one is for me. It fits me perfectly. Very happy with that."

Additional Vintage Discoveries

The haul continued with several other noteworthy items:

  • A red checked skirt that Pollard suggested she might upcycle
  • A pair of Firetrap jeans also earmarked for potential upcycling
  • A 1970s-style hand-knitted cardigan vest
  • A blue and burgundy man's shirt from the non-sale section priced at £3
  • A green Adidas basketball jersey that sparked some shopping drama

Regarding the Adidas jersey, Pollard recounted: "Some man tried to get this off me. I was trying on the Mansfield coat so I'd hung this to the side and he tried to get it. I was like 'yoink!' And he 'oh, I was just going to grab that' and I was like 'I know you were, I could see you, I could sense it'."

The Star Find: Vintage Mansfield Coat

Saving the best for last, Pollard revealed the highlight of her haul - a brown wool and cashmere Mansfield coat. "This is definitely to re-sell because it's absolutely not my colour," she declared. "But the style is amazing and it fits me rather nicely."

The most astonishing aspect was the price. "And that was a tenner. A tenner for Mansfield! Are you having joking!" she exclaimed, clearly amazed at finding such a quality vintage coat for just £10.

Social Media Reaction

Pollard's TikTok followers were equally impressed with her discoveries. One commenter wrote: "That coat is a great find! Love the blue and burgundy shirt and the jersey, you have such good charity shops near you."

Another added: "That coat is STUNNING and I totally think it's a colour that suits you. Wear with a bright green scarf? Also loved the first pair of trousers."

Pollard's successful charity shop haul demonstrates the potential treasures waiting to be discovered in second-hand stores, particularly for savvy shoppers who know where and when to look. Her experience highlights how charity shopping can yield both personal fashion finds and resale opportunities on platforms like Vinted.
