Tesco Urgently Recalls Vegan Product Over Health Fears

Tesco has issued an urgent recall for a vegan product due to health concerns, as part of a wider wave of recalls affecting UK supermarkets including Aldi, Waitrose, and Ocado. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published guidance on the affected items, urging shoppers to check their purchases.

The recall involves THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Sea-Salt & Black Pepper Pieces and THIS Isn’t Chicken Plant-Based Tikka Pieces, which have been labelled with incorrect 'use by' dates. The products show December 2020 dates instead of the correct January 2020 dates, meaning they may be unsafe to eat after the intended expiry.

In addition, Sacla’ is recalling various pesto products because they may contain undeclared peanuts, posing a risk to those with peanut allergies. Heinz and Tesco have also voluntarily recalled all 7+ months Heinz By Nature baby food jars after a tampered jar containing sharp metal fragments was found.

The affected baby food varieties include Sweet & Sour Chicken, Mango Chicken Curry, and Cottage Pie, among others, sold exclusively at Tesco in 200g jars. The FSA stated: 'The possible presence of sharp metal fragments makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk.'

Customers who have purchased any of the recalled items are advised not to consume them and to return them to the store for a full refund. Both Tesco and Heinz have apologised for the inconvenience.
