Bodycare Confirms Return with 17 Stores

Bodycare, the once-popular beauty retailer that closed all 130 UK stores in 2025, is making a comeback with 17 new locations. The company, bought out of administration by Charles Denton, former Chief Executive of The Body Shop and Molton Brown, will open 15 of these stores within one year, including two in Scotland.

Scottish Locations Confirmed

The two Scottish stores will be in Livingston's The Centre and Glasgow Fort. No opening dates have been announced yet, but the Bodycare website says they are "coming soon." Beauty fans can sign up on the website for exclusive updates and early access to the relaunch.

New Features and Product Lines

The relaunched stores will offer everyday health and beauty essentials, plus new categories including K-beauty favourites, new fragrances, and a piercing studio in every store—taking on rival Superdrug. A key addition is the in-store content creator studio, dubbed 'Live @ Bodycare,' part of a digital-first strategy.

Background and Administration

Bodycare was founded in 1970 by Graham and Margaret Blackledge and became known for affordable cosmetics from brands like L'Oréal, Nivea, and Elizabeth Arden. After struggling with rising costs and a delayed online transition, the company entered administration in 2025, leading to the closure of all 130 stores by the end of that year.

Administrators from Interpath cited negative impacts from rising rent and staff costs, a delayed online platform, and the cost-of-living crisis. The brand was purchased by an investor group led by Charles Denton for an undisclosed sum, who immediately began negotiating with landlords for a phased return.

Owner's Statement

At the time of purchase, Denton said: “Bodycare is much-loved and trusted – it matters deeply to the communities it serves. We now have the mandate to bring stores and jobs back by transforming Bodycare’s rich legacy into a modern, scalable and profitable business.”
