Co-op's Irresistible scones were the least favourite, with a rubbery texture that let them down. Aldi's All Butter Sultana Scones were a good budget option at £1.49, but lacked the rich, buttery taste of others and were slightly too crumbly.
Winners and value
Tesco Finest All Butter Sultana Scones were a great all-rounder with a nice buttery taste, though slightly floury. Sainsbury's scones were the clear winner, with a rich buttery taste that needed little accompaniment, and sultanas making up 23% of the scone. At £2.30 for four, they were also cheaper than Tesco and Co-op options.
