Ryanair has issued a series of alerts to passengers, including a reminder that 'bad behaviour won't fly'. The budget carrier, known for its no-frills service and cheeky social media posts, posted several updates on Instagram on Thursday. One post urged travellers not to wander around the aircraft, watch videos without headphones, or leave litter behind.
Ryanair Red Cards and Birthday Celebrations
A separate post humorously listed various 'Ryanair red cards', including flying in jeans, removing shoes during the journey, clapping after landing, asking about Wi-Fi on board, and hogging both armrests. The airline also announced it is marking its 41st birthday, having started operations in 1985. To celebrate, Ryanair is offering substantial discounts on selected routes.
Travellers must book by Sunday, July 19, to secure reductions on departures between now and October 31, 2026. Routes are available from £14.99 to destinations including Paris, Barcelona, Ibiza, Malaga, Berlin, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Bremen, Castellon, Eindhoven, Nantes, and Zadar.
Digital-Only Boarding Passes
Ryanair reminds passengers that it has moved to exclusively digital boarding passes. Since November 2025, the airline has shifted to '100% digital boarding passes via its app, eliminating paper passes to reduce costs, improve service, streamline rebooking, and save 300 tonnes of paper annually'.
Online check-in opens 60 days before departure for those who have bought allocated seats, or 24 hours beforehand for passengers accepting a complimentary seat assignment. The online check-in service closes two hours prior to the flight's scheduled take-off. Once checked in, boarding passes are issued, and travellers must keep a digital copy handy.
Avoid Airport Check-In Fees
Passengers who fail to check in online will face an airport check-in fee of £55 (or the euro equivalent). To avoid this charge, travellers must ensure they have a valid boarding pass before arriving at the airport. Those without a smartphone or tablet can obtain a complimentary boarding pass from Ryanair, provided they have completed online check-in before arrival. Ryanair will send passengers a reminder to check in online shortly before their scheduled departure.
