River Island £42 Pyjama Style Jeans Trend for Summer

Shoppers Rush for Comfy Jeans Alternative

River Island shoppers have been snapping up a £42 pair of 'pyjama style' jeans, which have returned in a slightly different design just in time for summer. The comfy jeans alternative is already trending on the River Island website, offering a solution to stiff and uncomfortable denim.

Four Colours and Three Lengths Available

The jeans come in four colours: dark blue, black, light blue, and cream. They are available in short, regular, and long sizes, making them suitable for a variety of body types. The wide-leg design features an elasticated drawstring waistband and pockets, perfect for warm weather.

Styling Versatility

These jeans can be dressed up for work with a blazer for a smart casual look or dressed down with trainers for a sunny walk. According to a review by Manchester Evening News reporter Grace Salmon, who tested the 'pyjama style' jeans in March 2025, the pros include feeling as comfy as pyjamas, a light wash colour perfect for spring, easy styling like normal jeans, and a trendy wide-leg shape. The only con noted was that the waistband 'gives away' they are not normal jeans, but this can be hidden with a long shirt.

Fabric and Care Details

The jeans are made from 100% Lyocell. Care instructions include warm iron, machine wash at max 30°C gentle, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, and do not dry clean. The newer design is described as 'non-stretch', unlike the previously reviewed stretch version.

Grace Salmon stated in her review: "I even received a few compliments on the flattering, wide-leg fit. And the best part was that I felt just as comfortable in my office outfit as I am on my work-from-home days when I can be a bit more relaxed in tracksuit bottoms or slouchy trousers. I can definitely say it will be hard to go back to wearing normal stiff denim jeans after wearing these all day long. But luckily, I don't actually have to because this pair is still made from denim and looks like denim."
