Quiz Clothing, a prominent UK high street fashion retailer, has entered administration, putting all 40 of its stores at risk of closure and threatening more than 500 jobs. The Glasgow-founded brand, known for its trendy apparel since 1993, owes over £40 million, according to reports.
Administration and Job Losses
The companies behind Quiz Clothing—Orion Retail Limited, Tarak International Limited, and Zandra Systems Limited—were placed under the control of Interpath in February 2026. Since then, 109 redundancies have been made across the head office and distribution centre in Bellshill. The chain operates 40 branches in the UK and seven concessions in Ireland, employing approximately 565 staff. If a rescue deal is not secured, all locations and remaining jobs are at risk.
Financial Troubles
Administrators' reports reveal that liabilities far exceeded assets in the months leading up to the collapse. For Orion Retail Limited, debts to connected parties stood at £15.4 million and trade creditors at £6.1 million, against assets including £13.5 million in debtor balances and £6.7 million in stock. Tarak International Limited reported £9.5 million owed to connected parties and £3.7 million to trade creditors, with £11.1 million in debtors and £1.4 million in stock.
No Buyer Found Yet
Administrators have confirmed that no offers have been received for the business as a going concern. The trading period is expected to last until mid-May 2026, with daily monitoring of performance. Operations may be pared back as necessary over the coming weeks.
Administrators stated: "We presently anticipate the administration trading period could last until mid-May 2026. Albeit, and with support from Hilco, trading performance is being monitored on a daily basis and paring back of operations will be implemented as it is considered necessary over the coming weeks. During the period immediately following our appointment—with news of the appointment having received local and national media coverage—we liaised with several parties who had expressed an interest in the company's business and assets. To date, no offers have been received for the company's business on a going concern basis."
