Nando's has announced plans to open 14 new restaurants across the United Kingdom following a sharp rise in sales and profits. The chicken chain revealed the locations for the new outlets, including Bedford, Derby, Peterborough, Bishop Auckland, Maidenhead, Sheffield, Edinburgh Gyle, Paddington and Liverpool Edge Lane, with all openings expected by February.
The group, which opened 12 UK sites in the previous year, said it was encouraged by customer demand and intends to expand both its company-owned estate and international footprint. However, the company warned that cost pressures, particularly after tax and wage increases in April, could affect its performance for the 2025/26 financial year.
Revenues for the financial year ending February 23, 2025, rose 8% to £1.48 billion, while operating profits more than doubled to £146.6 million, boosted by stronger sales and a one-off receipt.
Rob Papps, Nando’s group chief executive, said: “The 2025 financial year saw Nando’s continue to deliver a strong sales performance driven by robust consumer demand for our flame-grilled peri-peri chicken supported by our strong brand and customer proposition.”
To manage increased costs, the company is implementing productivity improvements and rolling out energy-efficient grills in the UK and Ireland. Despite these measures, Nando’s expects cost pressures to continue affecting its overall performance in the current financial year.
