Haribo launches first ever chocolate bar in UK supermarkets

Haribo, the maker of Tangfastics and Cola Bottles, is set to launch its first-ever chocolate bar in UK supermarkets next month. The confectionery brand has collaborated with Ritter Sport to introduce the Haribo Balla Bites bar to the UK market.

Unique combination of flavours

The bar features Ritter Sport's signature milk chocolate combined with Haribo's chewy Balla Bites, offering a sweet and tangy taste in every bite. It will be available at around 21,000 stores across the UK, including most major retailers.

The 100g bars have a retail price of £2 and will be sold alongside Ritter Sport's other flavours, such as Praline and Pistachio. The collaboration is a limited edition, so the bar will not be in stores for long.

Ritter Sport's UK expansion

Ritter Sport, a German brand, is seeking to expand its presence in the UK. Phil Murphy, chief marketing officer of Haribo UK & Ireland, said the new bar will bring a "new way to experience those moments of childlike happiness", with the unique combination of "the fruity chew of Haribo Balla Bites with Ritter Sport’s signature chocolate".

The rollout is set to be Ritter Sport UK’s largest-ever retail activation programme, including more than 4,500 branded shipper displays to drive in-store visibility.

Major investment in the brand

Benedict Daniels, managing director of Ritter Sport UK & Ireland, said: "Some collaborations feel so natural that you wonder why nobody has done them before. We’ve spent more than 100 years making quality chocolate and HARIBO has been creating moments of childlike happiness for generations. Bringing the two together has allowed us to create something that’s genuinely surprising and fun."

He added: "This is much more than a product launch. It is a major investment in growing the Ritter Sport brand. We’re putting millions of limited-edition bars into the market, expanding distribution and giving retailers a launch that’s designed to excite shoppers and bring new energy to the category."
