Costa Coffee Price Hike: Your Daily Latte Just Got More Expensive | Full Breakdown
Costa Coffee announces price hike on drinks and food

Your daily caffeine fix is about to hit your wallet a little harder, as high street titan Costa Coffee confirms a sweeping price increase set to take effect across its UK stores.

The chain, a staple of British high streets and retail parks, will raise prices on a selection of its most popular hot drinks, cold refreshers, and food items starting next week, adding further pressure to household budgets already strained by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

Which Costa Drinks Are Going Up in Price?

The price adjustments are not uniform, targeting specific items that have likely seen rising ingredient or operational costs. Patrons can expect to pay more for their favourite indulgent and speciality beverages.

  • Medium Latte: Rising by 15p, from £3.40 to £3.55.
  • Cortado & Flat White: Both increasing by 20p.
  • Speciality Cold Drinks: Iced lattes and other chilled favourites will see a 10p increase.
  • Hot Chocolate: The cost of this winter warmer is also climbing.

It's Not Just Drinks: Food Items Also Affected

The pinch won't be limited to your drink. Costa is also implementing hikes on its food menu, impacting popular lunch and snack options.

The chain's signature ‘Toasties’ will see a significant jump of 50p, pushing the price of a lunchtime staple even higher. Those with a sweet tooth will also need to dig deeper, as the cost of cakes and other baked treats is set to rise.

Why is Costa Coffee Increasing Its Prices?

In a statement, a Costa Coffee spokesperson pointed to the persistent inflationary pressures facing businesses across the sector. The company emphasised that it has been actively working to ‘absorb costs’ for an extended period but has now reached a point where a price adjustment is necessary.

“Like all retailers, we continue to manage significant and sustained cost pressures across our business,” the spokesperson said. “We always ensure our prices remain competitive and reflect the market in which we operate.”

This move reflects a broader trend in the retail and hospitality sector, where companies are grappling with increased expenses for energy, ingredients, packaging, and wages, often passing a portion of these costs onto the consumer.

The price change is scheduled to roll out in company-owned stores from Tuesday, 18th June. Customers are advised that prices may vary slightly in franchised locations, such as those found within hospitals, travel hubs, or motorway service stations.
