Walmart heiress Christy Walton places anti-Trump ad urging Americans to attend town halls

Christy Walton, an heir to the Walmart fortune, has placed a full-page advertisement in the New York Times and other newspapers calling on Americans to engage in the political process. The ad, which appeared on Sunday, features an image of the Statue of Liberty with the words 'USA, USA, USA' near the torch.

The message includes calls to 'honour our commitments and stand by our allies,' 'defend against aggression and dictators,' 'respect our neighbours and trading partners,' and 'uphold and defend the Constitution.' It concludes: 'The honour, dignity and integrity of our country is not for sale. Show up, attend your town halls, be civil.'

While a source familiar with Walton's thinking told Bloomberg the ad was meant to be nonpartisan, many Americans have drawn connections to the Trump administration's policies, including tariffs on Canada and Mexico and a tense meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Walton previously co-hosted a fundraiser for Kamala Harris and donated $50,000 to the Lincoln Project.
