A British tourist has delivered her candid verdict after visiting a Primark store in the United States for the first time, uncovering a significant difference compared to the UK shops.
A Primark Pilgrimage in Florida
Lily Rudkin, a Brit on holiday in Florida, stumbled upon a Primark in a local shopping mall and decided to investigate how the American outpost of the beloved budget retailer measures up. Primark first expanded across the Atlantic in 2015 and now operates more than 30 stores in various states, including the popular holiday destination of Florida.
Documenting her experience on TikTok, Lily expressed her surprise at finding the familiar store. "Guys, I'm at a Florida mall, and they literally have a Primark," she said, before venturing inside to see if it was "the same as England."
First Impressions and Fashion Finds
Upon entering, Lily's initial thought was that the store's layout looked very similar to its UK counterparts. She browsed the clothing rails, pointing out jumpers, dresses, and trousers. She was particularly impressed by one item, exclaiming, "These pants are literally so soft," as she showed a pair of grey trousers to her followers.
Another standout item was a brown fur coat with a fluffy collar and button fastening, which she immediately decided to purchase. The general clothing selection, however, led her to a preliminary conclusion.
The Ultimate Test: The Pyjama Section
For Lily, the true moment of truth lay in the pyjama aisle. "I feel like the moment of truth will be the pyjama section," she explained, "because I feel like it's not gonna be the same as England."
She quickly spotted the store's popular velvet 'boyfriend' style pyjama sets. The key difference emerged when she checked the price tag: these sets cost $28, which is approximately £21.25. She noted that comparable sets in the UK typically retail for between £15 and £17.
She also recognised other items, such as a pair of white pyjamas with a dog print and her favourite style of fluffy slippers, which were available in a different colour in the US store.
The Final Verdict
After her comprehensive tour, Lily gave her overall assessment. While she felt the general clothing section wasn't quite as good as in England, she acknowledged the store was still very similar. "It would give me a Primark fix if I lived over here," she concluded, suggesting it would suffice for British expats or tourists missing the iconic high-street brand, despite the noticeable price difference on some items.
