Asda Ketchup Ties Heinz in Blind Test, £1.61 Cheaper

Consumer group Which? has named Asda Classic Tomato Ketchup the joint best ketchup in the UK alongside Heinz, following a blind taste test by a panel of 72 people. Asda's own-brand ketchup costs £1.39 for a 970g bottle, making it £1.61 cheaper than Heinz's 460g bottle at £3. Both brands scored 77% in the evaluation, which assessed taste, aroma, texture, and visual appeal.

Blind Taste Test Results

The panel tested eight supermarket own-brand ketchups. Asda's ketchup was praised for its balanced tanginess, sweetness, and richness of flavour. It also contains lower sugar and salt per 100g than Heinz. Heinz matched Asda's score, with tasters highlighting its superb texture, taste, and appearance, though it has higher salt and sugar content than most competitors.
