Aldi's Controversial Christmas Cheese Range Sparks Debate

Aldi has unveiled its Christmas cheese range, featuring three new additions that are set to divide shoppers. The budget supermarket, named Christmas Retailer of the Year, is adding to its Specially Selected Speciality Cheeses, all priced at £2.49.

The most controversial new cheese is the Wensleydale Ballycastle with White Chocolate & Caramel, which combines the indulgence of a dessert with cheese. Aldi claims it offers all the richness of a dessert and cheese in one. Other new varieties include Sweet and Smokey Maple Cheddar and the returning Cheddar and Pineapple.

The new cheeses will be available from 26th November. Aldi is also offering a Specially Selected Luxury Cheese Truckle Tower at £13.99 for 1kg, a Hickory Smoked Vintage Cheddar, and an Ultimate Cheese Selection Pack at £12.99.

To meet Christmas demand, Aldi is opening 16 new stores before Christmas, including locations in Liverpool, Kirkintilloch, Cheadle, Billericay, and Kentish Town. The supermarket is investing £650 million in store openings and refurbishments in 2025, creating around 40 jobs per new site.

Aldi is also hiring over 4,500 temporary staff across the UK to help with replenishing stock and ensuring smooth operations during the festive period.
