Aldi is preparing to cut prices across more than 330 products, offering shoppers the opportunity to make their money go further throughout the summer holidays. The supermarket chain, which operates 1,080 stores across the UK at the moment, has established itself as one of Britain's leading retailers.
£100m investment in lower prices
Its swift growth has been driven by a straightforward strategy, featuring a meticulously curated product selection, a firm emphasis on own-brand items and maintaining competitive pricing for consumers. Aldi's latest move will see a further £100million ploughed into lowering the cost of everyday food and household goods.
From chilled and frozen favourites to store cupboard staples and household necessities, Aldi's newest price reductions are enabling families to make savings throughout their weekly shop.
The reductions mean Aldi has now lowered prices on over 1,000 items so far this year, with a total investment of £300million aimed at keeping grocery costs as affordable as possible.
Key savings on steaks, fruit, and cheese
Among the most significant savings are selected British steaks, with customers able to save 80p on the retailer's 21-Day Matured Sirloin Steak, now priced at £4.49, and its 21-Day Matured Ribeye Steak, priced at £4.59.
Fresh fruit has also seen reductions, with 40p knocked off packs of four nectarines and 22p off honeydew melons.
Meanwhile, cheese fans can purchase Aldi's Specially Selected Cheddar range (350g) for £2.99, representing a saving of 40p, while other household favourites have also been marked down. Diced Chicken Breast (600g) now costs £3.99, reduced by 30p, while Filled Pasta has dropped to £2.19.
Non-food discounts and summer support
The discounts are not limited to food items, with Aldi's Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion now available at £2.99, down from £3.29 — ideal timing given the current UK heatwave.
In addition to the price cuts, the supermarket has relaunched its Summer Support Scheme, which will see £50 grocery shops given away to families every day throughout July and August.
Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: "It's never been more important that everyday grocery essentials and family favourites remain affordable. We're committed to keeping prices low on popular products because we know it can make a real difference, helping families to make the most of the summer."
Expansion plans with 25 priority locations
This announcement comes as Aldi confirmed plans to expand its store network across the country, having already identified 25 "priority locations" for development.
The expansion will also generate new employment opportunities locally, and with Aldi being the UK's highest paying supermarket, these new sites could deliver genuine benefits to their communities. Aldi is set to invest over £370million in new stores as part of its long-term ambition to reach 1,500 stores nationwide.
The 25 priority locations for new Aldi stores are: Ayr South, South Ayrshire; Blantyre, South Lanarkshire; Canvey Island, Essex; Chaddesden, Derbyshire; Cleethorpes Old Clee Middlethorpe Road, Lincolnshire; Croxteth, Merseyside; Exeter Central, Devon; Falkirk Central, Falkirk; Gateshead – Team Valley, Tyne and Wear; Guildford, Surrey; Harrogate, North Yorkshire; Hereford, Herefordshire; Huddersfield, West Yorkshire; Leeds Horsforth Low Lane, West Yorkshire; Lincoln, Lincolnshire; Monmouth, Monmouthshire; Newcastle (Central), Tyne and Wear; Oxford, Oxfordshire; Plymouth West, Devon; St Albans, Hertfordshire; Woking, Surrey; Whitby, North Yorkshire; Warwick, Warwickshire; Walthamstow, London; Bath, Somerset.
