Safe Dig Utilities, an Essex-based construction company employing up to 200 staff, has plunged into administration following a High Court ruling on July 3, 2026. The company, founded in 2017, appointed Nick Edwards and Graham Bushby of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP as administrators.
High Court Decision and Background
The administration order was granted by the High Court of Justice Business and Property Courts in Manchester. Safe Dig Utilities, headquartered in Grays, Essex, with its principal trading address in Upminster, provided utility construction services and fiber-optic broadband deployment for major telecom clients.
According to its business profile, the company is a "highly regarded infrastructure services company based in the UK that is committed to delivering high-quality and safe utility construction programs for clients in the telecommunications industry."
Company Operations and Fleet
Safe Dig Utilities operated 50 digging teams, 20 cabling teams, and five fibre-blowing teams specializing in cable installation. Its fleet of over 70 vehicles included grab lorries, cherry pickers, hot box vehicles, mini diggers, JCB vehicles, and support vehicles.
The company worked on large projects for leading telecommunications companies such as Hyperoptic, G.Network, Telent, and Morrison Telecom Services. Services included air-blown fibre cabling, overhead fibre cabling, network rearrangement, fibre splicing, testing and commissioning, civils, network build, overblowing, and traffic management.
Staff Future Uncertain
The future of the company's 200 employees remains unclear following the administration. Administrators are expected to assess the company's financial position and explore options for the business.
