Rightmove and NatWest Launch Three-Year Mortgage Partnership for Instant Decisions
Rightmove and NatWest Partner for Instant Mortgage Decisions

In a significant move for the UK property market, Rightmove and NatWest have unveiled a three-year partnership that will revolutionise the home-buying process. Starting from April, this collaboration will provide prospective buyers with an "instant" digital mortgage decision in principle directly through Rightmove's platform.

Instant Mortgage Decisions While Browsing Properties

The new service allows users to access NatWest's mortgage in principle tool while viewing property listings on Rightmove, offering immediate feedback on potential borrowing capacity. This integration aims to streamline the early stages of property searches, helping individuals understand their financial options without leaving the website.

Exclusive Lender Partnership and First-Time Buyer Commitment

NatWest will serve as Rightmove's exclusive mortgage lender under this agreement, reinforcing its commitment to the housing market. The bank confirmed in November its pledge to lend £10 billion specifically to first-time buyers throughout 2026, highlighting a focused effort to support new entrants to the property ladder.

Solange Chamberlain, Chief Executive of Retail Banking at NatWest, emphasised the strategic timing of the partnership: "Partnering with Rightmove ensures NatWest can be there for customers at the exact moment they're thinking about buying a home." This direct access during the browsing phase is designed to enhance customer engagement and simplify financial planning.

Benefits for Consumers and Estate Agents

Rightmove's Chief Executive, Johan Svanstrom, outlined the broader advantages: "We help consumers to better understand what they can afford earlier in their home-moving journey, which in turn also helps estate agents or home developers have more qualified discussions with them." By providing instant mortgage insights, the service aims to foster more informed conversations between buyers and sellers, potentially accelerating transactions.

The mortgage in principle service can be accessed either through individual property listings or via Rightmove's dedicated mortgages section. If users decide to proceed, they can seamlessly transition to a full mortgage application with NatWest directly from the Rightmove interface, reducing administrative hurdles.

This partnership reflects a growing trend towards digital integration in the property sector, leveraging technology to make home buying more accessible and efficient. With the housing market facing ongoing challenges, such initiatives could play a crucial role in supporting buyer confidence and market activity in the coming years.
