121-Year-Old UK Sausage and Bacon Supplier Enters Liquidation
UK Sausage Supplier Liquidated After 121 Years

A UK sausage and bacon supplier with a 121-year history has entered liquidation. Puddledub Pork & Fifeshire Bacon Company Limited, a family-run farm based in West Fife, Scotland, appointed liquidators on April 15, 2026, after a winding-up petition was filed on January 30, 2026.

Family Legacy Since 1905

The Mitchell family has farmed at Clentrie Farm since the early 1900s, with ancestors cultivating the Fife area for over 300 years. The business, known for traditional butchery methods including dry-curing bacon and hand-linking sausages, won multiple awards, including Best Small Butchery Business in Scotland at the Butchery Business Winners Awards and a Farm Shop and Deli Retailers Award in 2025.

Impact on the Sector

The closure reflects broader distress in UK agriculture. According to Farmers Online, over a third of UK farms may cease operations within five years due to inheritance tax changes, while rising energy costs from ongoing conflicts further pressure stock levels. Joint liquidators Callum Angus Carmichael and Michelle Elliot of FRP Advisory Trading Limited have been appointed to manage the process.
