Scarlett Moffatt's Fiancé Quits Police Job to Be Stay-at-Home Dad
Scarlett Moffatt: Fiancé quits job to be stay-at-home dad

TV personality Scarlett Moffatt has shared a major family decision, revealing her fiancé has left his career in the police force to become a full-time father. This move allows the former Gogglebox star to resume her television work after a two-year break focused on motherhood.

A Supportive Partnership

Scarlett Moffatt, 35, exclusively told the Daily Mail that her partner, Scott Dobinson, 37, has taken a two-year hiatus from his role as a policeman. This decision enables him to care for their two-year-old son, Jude, full-time. Moffatt expressed immense gratitude for Scott's sacrifice, which she credits for giving her the opportunity to return to the career she loves.

"I feel really lucky," Scarlett said, reflecting on her own two years as a full-time mum after Jude's birth. "It was the best. And then when Jude turned two, I was like 'okay, I need to go back into work now' so I can chat to adults, cause I missed that." She also acknowledged the fickle nature of the entertainment industry, fearing that a longer absence might see her forgotten.

"So then Scott, my partner, he's wonderful, he's now took a two-year career break from the police," she explained. "So he's now in full-time dad mode, which is lovely. We're somehow managing because of that, and we've got great grandparents too."

Return to the Spotlight and Festive Projects

With Scott managing childcare, Scarlett has a busy slate of projects lined up for her professional return. She is set to star in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special and will headline the Christmas pantomime in Northwich.

The couple, who got engaged in 2023 shortly after Jude's birth and plan to wed next year, have built a strong support network. Scarlett emphasised they have never used a nanny or nursery, relying instead on family. "I think we've just been so lucky that I've either been at home or he's with my mum and dad, or Scott's mum and dad or Scott," she said, recognising her privilege in having family living nearby in what she called "a very northern thing."

Celebrating the 'Chief Christmas Officers'

As part of her return to work, Moffatt has partnered with mobile network Three UK on a festive campaign. The initiative aims to reward the unsung heroes, or "Chief Christmas Officers," who orchestrate the holiday season for their families. Three is hosting a pop-up event and offering perks through its Three+ rewards app to give these planners a well-deserved break.

Scarlett revealed a personal connection to the brand, stating: "This is what I love about being an ambassador for Three. So weirdly, I actually used to work for Three, when I was 20. I used to sell all the phones. I loved it."

She enthusiastically identified herself as a Chief Christmas Officer, saying: "With endless lists on my phone, in my bag, and on the fridge, I feel like a proper Chief Christmas Officer, keeping everything running smoothly." The campaign offers Three customers rewards including cinema tickets, Caffè Nero drinks, and discounts at Iceland throughout December.

Scarlett Moffatt's story highlights a modern approach to parenting and career management, made possible by her fiancé's significant career shift and strong family support close to home.
