Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson received a massive corporate bonus of $38.6 million (£29 million) in the 2026 financial year, shortly after the company laid off an undisclosed number of employees working on Battlefield 6.
Bonuses and layoffs
According to EA’s 10-K report, Wilson’s compensation includes stock awards, non-equity incentive plan compensation, and other compensation. In 2025, he received $30.5 million, meaning his 2026 bonus increased by over $8 million. This amount does not include his $1.3 million salary.
Other EA executives also received large bonuses: CFO Stuart Canfield got $11.3 million, and president Laura Miele received $13.7 million.
Battlefield 6 success cited
In March 2026, EA laid off employees across studios behind Battlefield 6—DICE, Ripple Effect, Criterion Games, and Motive Studio—despite the game becoming the best-selling title in the US in 2025, surpassing Call of Duty. EA stated the layoffs were intended to 'better align our teams around what matters most to our community.'
The company’s report noted that Battlefield 6 met all milestones for a high-quality launch with positive reviews and stable services, which was a primary reason for the bonuses.
AI strategy and future transparency
EA also highlighted its generative AI strategy as a success, achieving 'goals for transformation, expansion, and efficiency' through strategic partnerships and an investment framework. Successes in EA Sports FC, Apex Legends, and Skate were also credited.
If Saudi Arabia’s acquisition of EA, recently approved by the EU, goes through, the company will go private and may no longer be required to disclose executive compensation. Wilson has been CEO of EA since 2013 and is expected to remain in the role after the buyout.
