Tesco has announced a major rule change for customers with children, extending its Kids Eat Free scheme until September 1, 2026. The initiative now operates across more than 330 participating UK stores, allowing Clubcard holders to claim a free kids' meal with any adult purchase.
How the Scheme Works
The Café and The Coffee Shops programme runs daily until September 1, 2026. Customers can receive one complimentary Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast, or Kids Pick 'n' Mix deal when they purchase any full-price adult item and present their Tesco Clubcard. The adult purchase can be as modest as an apple priced at just 65p, Tesco confirmed.
Supporting Children's Nutrition
Beyond the Kids Eat Free scheme, Tesco is backing children's nutrition through its Free Fruit and Veg for Schools initiative. This year, over 500 schools received complimentary fruit and vegetables to help pupils achieve more of their 5-a-day. The Fruit and Veg for Schools initiative, alongside Free Fruit for Kids in stores and Tesco Fruit and Veg Grants, supports the supermarket's goal of helping a million youngsters incorporate more fruit and vegetables into their meals, according to Birmingham Live.
Terms and Conditions
Tesco's terms and conditions state: "One free Kids' Hot Meal Deal, Kids' Breakfast or Kids' Pick 'N' Mix Deal per any adult item purchased in The Café for dine-in only, a child must be present. Clubcard/app required. Scotland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, and The Coffee Shop: 25/06/26–01/09/26 (includes weekends)."
The offer is subject to availability, and kids' meals may vary in Cafés. The Kids' Pick 'N' Mix Deal, which may be the only option in some Cafés, consists of one sandwich, one drink, one fruit item, and a choice of two snacks. The offer cannot be used with other promotions, vouchers, or rewards, and The Café has the right to withdraw or amend the offer.
Competitive Landscape
Tesco, which competes with Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and Asda, operates branches across Birmingham and nationwide. The extended scheme aims to provide thousands more households with complimentary meals for their children.
