Marks & Spencer's latest cookware range, created in collaboration with Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, is being praised for its affordability and quality. With prices starting at £25 for a saucepan, the collection aims to cater to every home cook's needs. The range includes a variety of items, from a hefty butcher's block to a cast iron casserole dish that rivals the premium Le Creuset brand.
After a week of testing, the cookware has impressed with its performance, despite some larger pieces being unwieldy in smaller kitchens. The range features thoughtful designs, such as a nesting set comprising a griddle pan, a shallow casserole dish, and a deeper 5-litre pot, all sharing one lid. This space-saving design was highlighted as a favourite, particularly the middle pan, which excels at braising, roasting, and baking.
The cast iron casserole dish, priced at £45, is noted for its durability and style, available in midnight blue or sleek black matte. It is suitable for slow-cooked dishes like pork shoulder or bone broth, thanks to its Belgian frit enamel finish. The stainless steel saucepan, with an extra thick copper disc for even heating, can be transferred from hob to oven, making it highly versatile.
Overall, the range has replaced trusty pots and pans in the tester's kitchen, proving its worth for enthusiastic home cooks. The only minor drawback mentioned is the limited colour options for the casserole dish.
