McDonald's has launched a special festive menu inspired by the classic film How The Grinch Stole Christmas, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The limited-time offering includes both sweet and savoury items with a distinctive green theme.
The Grinch Menu Taste Test
Laura Khoshaba, a singer and food content creator with over 120,000 TikTok followers, decided to put the new menu to the test alongside her mother, Ann. She documented her experience in a video that has since sparked considerable discussion online.
The pair began with the Grinched McShaker Fries, which come with a sachet of gherkin-flavoured seasoning. Laura tipped the fries into the provided shaker bag, but the potent smell of the seasoning immediately filled their car, prompting an audible complaint from her mother off-camera.
Ann felt the gherkin flavour should have been more intense, stating, "I think if they were going to do a gherkin flavour, I think maybe, it should've been a bit stronger." Laura, however, enjoyed the subtle taste, noting that "the smell is stronger than the taste."
Sweet Treats and Socks
Next, they sampled the Grumble Pie, a green pastry filled with apple, cranberry, and custard. Laura was pleasantly surprised, saying, "That's not bad, actually." Her mother preferred the traditional apple pie, but Laura still gave the festive alternative a positive review.
Their final taste was the Frozen Grinch Lemonade, a green melon-swirl beverage. Both women found it far too sweet, with Laura concluding, "Not a fan."
The biggest hit of the meal, surprisingly, wasn't a food item. They were both delighted with the pair of Grinch "odd socks" included with each meal, describing them as "so cute" and expressing a desire to collect the entire set.
Public Reaction to the Festive Offerings
The TikTok video prompted a flood of comments, revealing a divided public. One user called McDonald's "financially brave" for the menu's unconventional flavours like gherkin and cranberry. Others were more enthusiastic, with one person writing, "I really wanna try the fries and pie."
Another comment highlighted the split opinion on the fries: "I liked the gherkin fries, I love everything pickle, I'll be ordering them again for sure, but I didn't like the grumble pie." Many, however, seemed to agree with one user who simply stated, "Love the socks....rest of it...not for me!!!"
The new McDonald's Grinch menu is available now for a limited time. Customers can choose from meal options including the Grinch Big Mac, a nine-piece Chicken McNuggets meal, or the McPlant meal, each served with a side, a drink, and the coveted odd socks.
