Reality Star's Vitamin Empire Faces Legal Challenge
Kourtney Kardashian's highly successful wellness brand, Lemme, finds itself embroiled in a significant legal confrontation. The multimillion-dollar vitamin and supplement company, founded by the reality television star, is currently locked in a trademark war with a Hong Kong-based company that shares the same name. This clash centres on rights to the 'Lemme' brand identity in the United States market.
The Core of the Legal Dispute
According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Lemme Inc., launched by Kardashian in September 2022, has formally opposed the trademark application filed by Hong Kong Senran Technology Company. The Chinese firm, which primarily deals in cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and liquid nicotine solutions, also operates under the Lemme name. Kardashian's legal team filed their opposition on September 10, citing 'priority and likelihood of confusion' and 'dilution by blurring' as their primary grounds.
The filing argues that American consumers have come to recognise LEMME as a source of high-quality vitamins and supplements. They contend that the Hong Kong company's mark is 'identical and/or confusingly similar' to their own trademarks, which include variations like Lemme Purr and Lemme Mama. The legal team further expressed concern that any dissatisfaction with the cigarette company's products would 'irreparably damage the reputation and goodwill' of Kardashian's wellness brand.
The Hong Kong Company Fights Back
Hong Kong Senran Technology Company filed its formal response on November 10, pushing back vigorously against all claims. The company denies that Kardashian's Lemme 'has been or will be damaged' by their trademark application. In their legal rebuttal, they argued that Kardashian's brand has not established sufficient fame among the general American public to support dilution claims under the Lanham Act.
'At most, Opposer’s marks have achieved recognition within the vitamin industry, which is insufficient to support claims of dilution - particularly in connection with goods in the cigarette products industry, where no such fame has been demonstrated,' the company stated. They further emphasised the 'significant differences' between the products and their respective trade channels, asserting there is no likelihood of consumer confusion.
Lemme's Growing Business and Other Legal Challenges
Despite the legal turmoil, Kardashian's brand continues to demonstrate remarkable commercial success. Lemme's e-commerce business alone generated approximately $61 million in revenue over the last six months, according to April reports. The products are widely available at major retailers including Target.
This trademark dispute isn't the only legal challenge facing the wellness brand. Earlier this year, Lemme Inc. was sued by Christina Robins, a California resident who alleged false advertising in the brand's GLP-1 gummies. While the New York federal case was dismissed due to jurisdiction issues, the California lawsuit remains ongoing. A status conference hearing is scheduled for December regarding the defendant's demurrer.
The brand, which filed its initial trademark in November 2021, launched with three gummy varieties: Lemme Matcha, Lemme Focus, and Lemme Chill. The line has since expanded to include probiotics, sleep aids, digestive supplements, and beauty support gummies. Most recently, Kardashian introduced Lemme Purr Probiotic Lollipops in October, marketed as the first-of-its-kind women's health probiotic lollipop.
The legal proceedings continue with a discovery conference deadline set for December 10, followed by an initial disclosures deadline of January 9, 2026. Both parties have been approached for comment by the Daily Mail.
