Fix warped plastic container lids with boiling water hack

Plastic food storage container lids often warp after repeated use in the dishwasher or microwave, rendering them useless. But one Instagram user has shared a simple trick using boiling water to restore them to their original shape.

The hack, demonstrated by user Jenn, involves boiling a kettle and pouring the hot water over the warped lid placed in a sink. She advises using the entire kettle and flipping the lid halfway through so the plastic softens evenly.

Once the lid is pliable, it can be moulded back into shape and reattached to the container. To ensure it holds its form while cooling, Jenn recommends holding it in place under cold running water or positioning the container lid-side down with a heavy object, such as a saucepan, on top until completely cool.

Commenters praised the tip, with many saying they had previously discarded such lids. One user wrote: 'Thank you for this, I'll try it tonight!' Another added: 'I wish I saw this before I threw mine out.'
