Aldi has introduced a new weighted vest priced at £12.99, designed to help shoppers burn more calories during exercise and everyday activities. The vest, weighing approximately 6kg, aims to increase the effectiveness of strength and endurance training, according to the product description.
The supermarket claims the vest will help customers stick to their New Year's resolutions of getting stronger. It features reflective strips and adjustable straps, fitting a universal size. Health experts note that walking with a weighted vest can enhance calorie burn, improve balance, and build bone density.
The vest has gained attention on TikTok, where user Devon Murphy showcased the product, prompting comments such as "great find" and "going tomorrow!" Murphy described the vest as "quite heavy" and said it helps users break a sweat. The item is part of Aldi's limited-stock Specialbuy range.
Alongside the vest, Aldi's new sports and leisure range includes an inflatable boxing machine (£29.99), boxing gloves (£12.99), a push-up board, a soft sports mat, and weight-lifting equipment. These items are available in-store for a limited time.
The NHS recommends adults aged 19 to 64 engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week, along with strengthening activities on two or more days. Weighted vests can complement such routines by increasing intensity.
