A flood alert has been issued for Ayrshire and Arran this afternoon, with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) warning that Storm Austen is expected to bring consistent and heavy rainfall to the region.
SEPA has issued 11 Flood Alerts across various parts of the country, with the alert for Ayrshire and Arran being one of them. The agency has warned that significant impacts from river flooding "could occur" throughout Friday and into the early hours of Saturday.
Potential Impacts on Communities and Infrastructure
Impacts could include flooding of roads, properties and parts of communities, and possibly cause significant disruption to transport and infrastructure. The wet weather could also make driving conditions tricky.
A SEPA spokesperson said: "Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property."
