Aldi Recalls Dairyfine Salted Caramel Gonks Over Peanut Allergy Risk
Aldi recalls chocolate gonks over undeclared peanut risk

Supermarket giant Aldi has issued an urgent product recall for a popular Christmas chocolate item over fears it could pose a serious risk to people with a nut allergy.

What is being recalled and why?

The affected product is the Aldi Dairyfine Salted Caramel-Filled Gonks, sold in 90g packets. The recall was initiated because the chocolates may contain peanuts, an allergen which is not declared on the product label.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published an official warning, stating that the item presents a "possible health risk" to anyone with an allergy to peanuts. For those with the allergy, consuming the product could lead to a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction.

What should customers do?

Customers who have purchased the product and have a peanut allergy are strongly advised not to eat it. Aldi has stated that anyone who has bought the chocolates can return them to any of its stores for a full refund. No receipt is required.

The recall notice was issued on Monday 1st December 2025. Shoppers are urged to check their festive treats immediately.

A pattern of festive recalls

This is not the first time Aldi has had to pull festive chocolate from its shelves this season due to undeclared allergens. The supermarket recently withdrew two varieties of its Choceur holiday bark over similar labelling concerns.

These repeated incidents highlight the critical importance of accurate food labelling, especially for common allergens like nuts, milk, and gluten, which can cause severe health consequences.

Consumers, particularly those with food allergies, are reminded to always check product labels and to heed official FSA recall notices to ensure their safety.
