From viral trends to timeless classics, tweens have clear opinions on what makes the perfect gift. We spoke to 20 children aged 9 to 12 to find out what they really want this Christmas. Here are 47 ideas that won't get an eye roll.
Comfort is key. Sweatpants without cuffed bottoms, oversized hoodies and baggy shorts are top of many lists. Brands like Free People, Abercrombie & Fitch and White Fox are popular. 'They're cute and comfortable and really easy to slip on,' says Caroline, 11.
Soft toys remain a hit. Jellycats and Squishmallows are must-haves, while Lego sets never get old. 'I like Wicked a lot and building Lego. It distracts me and I get concentrated,' says Summer, 10. Arts and crafts sets, such as needlepoint or crochet kits, are also requested.
Tech and gaming are big. Many tweens want a PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or gift cards for games. 'It has an infinite amount of games inside of it,' says Jackson, 11 of the Switch. Others ask for iPads, smartwatches or electric guitars for creative pursuits.
Sports fans want footballs with their favourite team's logo, while others prefer painting sets or drawing materials. 'I love foxes, so I draw lots of foxes,' says Lennon, 10. Earrings from seasonal brands and collectible toys like Calico Critters are also popular.
