Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan appeared to criticise Liverpool's handling of Mohamed Salah after the winger starred in Egypt's 3-1 World Cup win over New Zealand on Sunday. Salah scored to become Egypt's second all-time leading scorer with 68 goals, one shy of Hassan's record. Hassan said: "I am maybe the first coach to let him play in a position that matches his danger, that matches his capabilities and qualities." The 34-year-old Salah had a public dispute with former Reds boss Arne Slot in his final season at Anfield.
Inter Milan's Curtis Jones Bid Rejected
Liverpool have rejected a second bid from Inter Milan for midfielder Curtis Jones, worth £21.7m. The Serie A champions have been in talks for weeks but their offers fall well short of Liverpool's £35m valuation. The Reds are using Conor Gallagher's £35m move to Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in January as a benchmark. Jones, 25, has made 228 appearances for Liverpool since his debut in 2019 and has four England caps.
Salah's World Cup Heroics
Salah's goal helped Egypt secure their first-ever World Cup win over New Zealand. Hassan, visibly emotional, said: "Salah worked hard on the pitch... We worked on so many things and I am sure we are going to see more from him." He dedicated the victory to the Egyptian people.
